"I visited the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) after a stroll through parts of the National Triangle in mid-September 2025. As a first time visitor to Australia and the NPG, the works showchased in the Gallery introduced me to artists and creators from Australia's indigenous peoples and other diverse communities.
There is no fee to access the Gallery. The Gallery has café and gift shop."

"Yeah but maybe nah. Might be just me but i didn’t find it very appealing looking at a few of the portraits. I don’t know why. Some were insanely clever, some were just drawings it seemed to me, and some were stunning. I may be a landscape person more than i enjoy portraits and it’s something I will remind myself of when i return to Canberra, but i think i personally, while i recognised many on the walls, was not that inspired. Honestly i like Angh whatshisface on tv and his work, that’ll do me. It’s lovely outside though, easily accessed, enthusiastic staff, and not as confusing as the art gallery directly opposite, so if you like portraits, sure, do it! My two favs are below. These i loved!"
