Reviews Summary

Ophir Reserve is praised as a beautiful, affordable camping spot with rich gold rush history and abundant wildlife. Visitors enjoy exploring the mine tunnels and the natural surroundings, though some note issues with dumped rubbish and the need for caution with young children near water and tunnels.

"Lovely spot to camp, cheap and beautiful."

Janelle F

"Fascinating valley and unspoilt bush walking trails. Loved the gold diggings, fast flowing creek and happy wallaby. Didn't like the big black snake who wandered past my feet. Luckily we weren't of interest to him/her."

Lewis von Stieglitz

"Beautiful spot and dog friendly which is great! It's only $10 a night which is totally worth it as it helps maintain this campground. The historic mines are amazing and so much wildlife, I got to see a turtle, microbats, lizards, snakes and countless birds.
The only downside is someone has dumped their old caravan down there and it is surrounded by garbage and is taking advantage of this great spot. It obviously makes others uncomfortable as no one was setting up their camp anywhere near the caravan which is a waste of such a great spot."
