Moving to Darwin in the next few weeks. Any advice on suburbs to rent in? Any to avoid? Is Palmerston a bad suburb? I saw a TikTok of Spaniard showing lots of young gang kids there. Is this true? Thanks for any help

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Nightcliff Market is a beloved Sunday destination, praised for its relaxed atmosphere, diverse food options, and family-friendly amenities. Visitors appreciate the live music and the variety of handmade goods. Some find parking challenging, and the 'no dogs' policy is a common point of note.
"Nightcliff Market is a great weekend spot to relax and enjoy time with family. There’s a nice mix of Aussie and Asian food, live music on some days, and a kids’ play area. Plenty of seating and a friendly vibe. You’ll find stalls selling handmade items, clothes, books, souvenirs, and some organic products. There are a few veggie stalls too, but not many. Easy to find parking and the bus stop is nearby. Worth a visit!"

"Nightcliff Market is a bit like Parap Village Market but smaller, offering crafts, merchandise, and food trucks. What really stood out to me was the emphasis on the ROW system - borrow a cup for your drink, then return it. Not something I’m used to back home, where my first thought would be “are these cups clean?” It’s a great practice to pick up, though otherwise, future generations might end up paying the price."

"I visited the Nightcliff Markets while I was in Darwin and really enjoyed the vibe. They're on every Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm and run all year round. It’s a nice little market with a good mix of food stalls, arts and crafts, local produce, second-hand goods, and live music. It’s a more laid-back market compared to some of the busier ones around Darwin, but still has a great atmosphere.
I had the most amazing fresh paw paw salad made right in front of me, and the mango juice with orange, ginger and honey was next level—so refreshing! Easily one of the best juices I’ve had:)
Something to note—dogs aren’t allowed at the markets, which is the same across most of the markets in Darwin. It’s a bit of a shame if you're travelling with your dog, but worth knowing before you go. Parking can be a bit tight, but there’s usually some available around the shopping centre or nearby streets.
If you’re in Darwin on a Sunday, it’s a great little spot to grab breakfast or lunch and enjoy some live music in a relaxed setting."
