"COCKTAIL WAITRESSES STEAL YOUR MONEY: I visited Earl's with some friends last night,as they had a great eat club discount. I have been a few times before and it had been great. Last night the POS transaction on first round went as usual, we were handed the the eftpos which asks you to key in the percentage you would like to tip or skip the tip before you tap your card. (I have no proplem tipping 5% or so). But from then on the waitresses started tipping themselves, they would simply hand us the eftpos and say "tap here". It wasn't until I looked at my account I noticed the extra transactions had taken place (eat club transacts tips separately) and they were tipping themselves like 20%. Happened to everyone in the group I was with. For that reason I will never go back there. I have no problem with tipping but it left a bad taste in my mouth that they would just take away my choice and slyly help themselves to my money. I wanted to speak to a manager but I shouldn't have to sit there fighting and proving to a manager that their staff are choosing their own tips after I've had a few drinks on a Friday night."
