What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the incredible panoramic views from Mount Jim Crow, calling them 'awesome' and 'worth the view.' The challenging climb, described as 50% mountain climbing, is a major draw for adventurous types. However, the trail can be tricky, especially on the descent, and requires good fitness and agility. Some reviewers noted the unstable terrain and the ease of getting off-path.
"Absolutely loved it!
This is not just hiking it's 50% mountain climbing. There is a huge tree covering the main path half way up. It's signed okay on the way up but not so much on the way down. Don't follow the ball's path as you literally come to ledges for those who had the balls to mark it! Thanks for the views! Pays to go with someone who is somewhat familiar with it. I went with a guy who used to walk it regularly and we still got off the path several times on the way down. Some places were more complex. This isn't an easy climb unless you are agile and fit. If you rock climb and love it then this is up your alley. Views from the top are nice."

"Great climb. I say climb because we went the east way and found a substantial amount of the track was a climb. Very unstable path with shale like surface. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re not used to uneven surfaces and a bit of risk.
Signs suggest the locals have to put up with a lot of rescues due to unprepared hikers.
Now onto the positives! The views were awesome, wildlife everywhere and plenty of spots to stop and catch your breath too. Go on a clear day to make the most of it."
Jessica Lee
"This is a good hike with great views most of the way up. Quite a bit of climbing required and I would suggest being confident and relatively fit. Saw some families climbing here too. Very enjoyable."
