"Watermans Bay is a fantastic spot for a swim 🏊♀️ or rehabilitation exercises 🤸♂️, offering a safe and quiet environment 🌊. The calm waters make it perfect for families with kids 👨👩👧👦 or anyone looking for a relaxing experience. There’s a safety rail for added support 🛡️, though the beach is accessed via stairs, so it may not be wheelchair-friendly ♿. However, there is a ramp adjacent to the main beach for easier access 🚶♀️. "Such a beautiful place 🥰 This is certainly a hot spot for the whole family! You can snorkel, catch little crabs on the rocks or watch schools of fish pass you. The kids have a playground which is all fenced in, shaded and sun grassed areas, BBQ and a gazebo too! This nook has privacy, great showers and is always clean. Would not recommend going here if the sea is choppy/rough though!"

Exploring the Underwater World: Snorkeling & Diving
While diving opportunities exist, snorkeling is more commonly highlighted in visitor content. The clarity of the water is a significant factor, with conditions being best when the sea is calm. Rough or choppy seas can significantly reduce visibility, impacting the overall experience. Therefore, checking the weather and sea state before heading out is crucial for an optimal underwater adventure.
Beyond Mettams Pool, other areas like the shipwreck at Coogee Beach and the northern sections of Marmion Marine Park also offer good snorkeling potential. The accessibility of these spots makes them popular choices for a quick dip and exploration of the local marine life. Remember to bring your own gear, as rental facilities are not widely available within the park itself.
Coastal Activities and Relaxation
For the more adventurous, activities like boating, kitesurfing, and stand-up paddleboarding are also enjoyed within the park's waters. The expansive coastline provides ample space for these pursuits. Some visitors even opt for exhilarating helicopter rides for a breathtaking aerial perspective of the park and the surrounding Sunset Coast.
Beyond active pursuits, the park is also a wonderful place for relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty. Many visitors come to simply walk along the coast, admire the views, or watch the sunset. The peaceful atmosphere of places like Watermans Bay makes it a great spot for quiet contemplation or even small, intimate gatherings like weddings [^R].
Wildlife Encounters
Beyond the immediate underwater world, the park is also a crucial area for marine mammals. While not guaranteed, there's potential to spot dolphins, and during migration seasons, whale watching can be a highlight. The park's coastal areas also attract various birdlife, adding to the natural spectacle.
It's important for visitors to remember that these are wild animals, and observing them from a respectful distance is key. The park's designation as a marine park aims to protect these species and their habitats, ensuring that future generations can also enjoy these incredible wildlife encounters.
