Reviews Summary

Lake Wabby is a unique freshwater lake on K'gari (Fraser Island), praised for its stunning sand dunes and the experience of swimming with catfish. While some find the hike and the lake's size less impressive compared to other island attractions, many appreciate its tranquil atmosphere and the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. Reddit+1

"Having been to every other spot on the island we left Lake Wabby til last and I have to say I was a bit disappointed.
It’s certainly no Lake McKenzie.
Mostly sand there’s only a small green body of water to swim in. You have to walk to the look out and then branch off to the left for a 1km trek down to the lake area. For me, it wasn’t worth the hassle but each to their own.
Perfect example of shifting sands on a sand island taking over nature.
There is a decent toilet block there should the need arise."

SARGES’ Family

"This lake might be a little muddy and the walk is farther than some of the others, but it was my favorite lake! The water is very hot, and the area is stunning with the sand dunes next to the rainforrest. There are fish you can watch and the smaller ones will nibble a little on you. I could've spent a whole day here. Be warned, it is a lot deeper than the other lakes."

Peter Frønsdal

"The lake was okay. We thought it was average compared to some of the other lakes on the island. There were lots of fish in the water and it looked like a great spot to swim. The short hike to the lake from the beach was a nice little walk."
