What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Chinatown Brisbane offers a taste of Asian culture, particularly vibrant during festivals like Lunar New Year. While some visitors find it a bit underwhelming compared to larger Chinatowns, it still provides authentic culinary experiences and a glimpse into the community's history. Some areas can feel less culturally focused outside of event times.
"Felt a bit underwhelming, to be honest. Thought there’d be more variety or cultural stuff. Went with my boyfriend and we left after 20 minutes. It just didn’t have the energy I’d hoped for. Some of the stores were closed too. Might be better during an event or festival, but not much was going on when we visited."

"Meow Meoooow!!
My name is Mickey and I'm a black domestic short hair cat. I really enjoy coming here to get myself some Szechuan chicken and sometimes Mongolian beef. For a minute there I got the feeling one if the restaurant owners wanted to turn me into one of the midweek specials; I'm glad I stretched before my trip here 😹 I enjoy the vibes and had a great culturally enriching evening. I recommend this place for fit cats who wish to sample authentic Chinese food. Be prepared to run the gauntlet though!!

"I wish a Chinese conglomerate would step in and totally transform The Valley's Chinatown and make it like Melbourne's or San Francisco's... I love chinese culture however apart from Lunar New Year celebrations its a bit drab. Even that this year wasnt as good as usual. Not as many stalls to buy stuff from."
