"I don’t get the hype. I tried it because it was recommended to me and it’s incredibly popular but I don’t really think it was anything special and it was very expensive.
I got the ricotta pancakes thinking it would be stuffed with creamy ricotta or something interesting (think top paddock in Melbourne) but it’s just eggy tasting pancakes (I’m guessing whipped egg whites folded in to make it appear fluffy, with ricotta incorporated in the batter itself) but the taste itself was quite bland and it didn’t even have any nice toppings or nice presentation, just a banana sliced in half, a pat of butter on each pancake, and 2 tbsps of maple syrup. $32 for something i felt was very average tasting, the portions were also very average and I’m not a big eater. I’m just glad I tried it when I was in the area instead of going out of my way to visit. I also got the hot chocolate which was not great, it was milk with some melted chocolate on the side that you stirred in yourself so it doesn’t even get fully incorporated and has flaky bits swirling around, not that appetising in my opinion. I had almost finished my food before it arrived, I thought they had forgotten. Maybe my expectations were too high but can you blame me? The price and popularity really made me think it would be a nicer experience than it was.
Service was okay, average as well; not particularly friendly or unfriendly, the blonde lady in glasses was nice but everyone else pretty much ignores you."
