What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Old Post Office Visitor Centre for its stunning, free city views from the clock tower and its beautiful, well-maintained historic architecture. It's also noted as a venue for lively community events like salsa nights and live music, offering a vibrant atmosphere. Some find the art exhibits small but quality, and appreciate the insights into local communication history.
"A small but quality selection of artworks, this Gallery is inside of the Bendigo Visitor Centre."
Spencer Halse
"Beautiful historic building that has been maintained to impeccable standards, showing just how heady the Bendigo gold rush was, just how much money was in the city, and how grand the architecture in the city is.
The building is central to the city, imposing almost, and overlooks the beautiful Rosalind Park, RSL memorial, the Shamrock hotel and law courts. You get a real sense of what 1850-1880 must have been like in the city, with its opulence and largesse so readily displayed.
One can see how the city rivaled any other in Australia at the time in terms of grand architecture and is a testament to the people who established the city."
Sean Kelleher
"This is a small gallery, part of the Bendigo Art Gallery, with interesting exhibits. We saw an exhibition about tourism to Bendigo. The name of the gallery tells us that it is housed in the old post office, not that it features postal art! Entry is by donation."
