What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Crown Sydney offers a visually stunning experience with luxurious rooms and breathtaking harbour views, particularly from its rooftop pool and Sky Deck. However, guests frequently report significant service issues, including chaotic check-ins, unserviced rooms, and a lack of responsiveness from staff, which detracts from the expected luxury standard for the high prices charged.
"We had a very disappointing check-in experience. Valet parking was chaotic from the moment we arrived, which isn’t great considering it costs $100 per night. The check-in queue was also all over the place with no clear order, and we waited about 30 minutes only to be told our room needed to be “checked over.” We were given one drink voucher and told we’d get a text when it was ready.
An hour later, still nothing. When I went back to the desk, we were then told the room actually wasn’t ready. After some back and forth, we were given $80 credit and told the room was now available. When we got there at around 4:45pm, the cleaners were still in it. By the time it was finally ready, it was almost 5pm — not acceptable for a 5-star hotel charging premium prices.
Staff were polite, but the entire check-in process was chaotic and seemed very understaffed. Definitely needs improvement."

"We stayed at Crown Sydney for two nights over the weekend and the experience was honestly so disappointing. Our room was never cleaned once during our entire stay. I called front desk twice asking for someone to come up with fresh towels and to service the room — no one ever came.
Then on the morning of checkout, I called an hour beforehand to request someone bring up a trolley for our luggage. Again, no one came. I called a second time and was told someone was on their way.. still no one arrived. We ended up taking all our bags down ourselves, which was really difficult travelling with a 7-month-old baby.
When I went to the bell desk, they confirmed no one had even been notified. For a hotel that advertises itself as luxury and 6-star, the service was honestly unacceptable. We booked this staycation to relax, not to make things harder for us.
Such a shame because the property is beautiful! but the service was not anywhere near the standard you expect for the price."

"If it wasn't for work or family, I would never book again. Every time I book there is some sort of issue. 2 years ago I had a random guy walk in with a key and said it was his room. When I called front desk to fix the issue, they said I had to go downstairs and get a new card. I had never felt so dismissed with the staff being so unapologetic. Not much was done and I thought I'd just keep it to myself and not worry about it.. no harm done.
This year, I gave it another go. It was definitely a much better experience HOWEVER, when I had called up to get a tax invoice sent, it took days with no response. First call, the lady said to call back because the card number was apparently wrong. Which I can assure it, it was not, as it worked the next 3 phone calls I made. The 2nd call, I asked for a tax invoice, they tried to send me to the front desk, no one picked up, he said he left a message with them to call me back. No call back. I called again, same scenario except this time she had stated she had sent an email with my details. Still nothing. The 4th and final call, I spoke to Tai who was apologetic and was able to send me an invoice within seconds of retrieving my information. She was the only competent staff I think I've ever dealt with at a Crown hotel.
I can assure you, Perth and Melbourne Crown are just as bad. With one not being able to check in until 6pm because our room wasn't cleaned. I had then received a complementary drink to which the bartender said I can only choose from a beer or 2 choices of wine. I've had better service from motels.
Train your staff. (Thank you Tai for being wonderful.)"
