"The 100 Steps of Federation is a beautiful spot with amazing views once you reach the top. It’s a short, easy walk that’s great for all fitness levels, and the lookout offers a fantastic view across the bay, city skyline, and surrounding landscape. The area is clean, well maintained, and has plenty of open space to enjoy a walk, take photos, or just relax. There’s also a bit of history behind the monument, which adds to its charm. It’s especially nice at sunset when the light over the water is stunning. A great place to visit for some fresh air and great views!"

"One of the best days of my recent Melbourne trip was taking the train to Altona, a pleasant suburb, and then a bus to go walking in this area. The 100 steps are short and easy to climb and the view is wonderful, but for my son and I, the big attraction was all the bird life even though we didn't manage to spot any orange-bellied parrots, which are evidently rare. You can also walk along the Hobsons Bay coastal trail from Altona. Having done both in one day, I estimated that we spotted at least 25 different bird species."

Capturing the Views: Photography Tips
For the best photographic results, timing is key. Late afternoons, particularly during the 'golden hour' before sunset, provide soft, warm light that enhances the landscape and city views. Sunsets here are often described as stunning, casting a beautiful glow over the water.
