What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning turquoise waters and panoramic mountain views at Laguna Turquesa, calling the hike rewarding despite its steep sections. The lush forest trail is also a highlight. However, the trail's muddy and slippery conditions, especially after rain, are a common concern, and winter visits are not recommended due to snow and impassable trails.
"Unfortunately, the only day that we had available for this hike, turned out to be rainy and cold. From what we’ve read about this hike, the trail is usually quite muddy on the steep part, and it was particularly muddy today because of the rain. After getting about 2/3 of the way up the steep section, we decided it was going to be too slippery going down so we ended at that point and returned to the base. The forest along the way is quite lovely with lots of moss, mushrooms, ferns and shrubs etc and other greenery, even at this point in the early autumn. If you peek out through the trees, the surrounding vistas are stunning, with views of the mountain range beyond. This hike is classified as medium difficulty and I think that most amateur hikers would be able to complete it if you don’t rush, take your time and use a stick for support on steep or slippery areas. Other people have commented and photographed on the beautiful views. You will find at the top, but that will have to wait until our next visit."

"Beautiful one day trek. Short one but though ascend until the lagona (around one hour walk). The view is just amazing. you can sit by the water and eat something before you go back. the return is very short around 20-30 minutes because it is descending"

It's important to note that the weather in Patagonia can be unpredictable. Even during the summer, you should be prepared for rain, wind, and cooler temperatures. The trail, particularly the steep sections, is known to become very muddy and slippery after rain, significantly increasing the difficulty and risk of falls. For this reason, avoiding winter visits is strongly advised, as heavy snowfall can render the trails impassable and the lagoon frozen over. Always check the local weather forecast before you go and dress in layers.
