Reviews Summary

Iruya is lauded for its breathtaking, unique mountain setting and the rewarding adventure of reaching it. Many appreciate the authentic, traditional atmosphere and the stunning natural beauty, especially the trek to San Isidro. However, concerns are frequently raised about the safety and reliability of bus services, particularly 'Transporte Iruya,' and the challenging road conditions can be a deterrent for some.

"Don't take Transporte Iruya. Take Panamericano or any other option. This company has the worst buses, very old and dangerous for the roads here. I went from Humahuaca to Iruya and bought a round-trip ticket. On the way, there was a power failure, and we had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for another bus. On the way back (which I only took because I had already bought the return ticket), the wheels broke, and we waited another hour and 5 minutes on the highway for a new bus. On our way back, another Transporte Iruya bus was stopped in the opposite direction, with passengers waiting for another bus. The buses are extremely old and in poor condition, poorly maintained, and very dangerous for roads like Iruya (there have even been accidents with this company). I've attached a photo of the bus stopped on the highway on the way there and stopped again on the way back. Some passengers said the bus parts were repaired only with wire cables, but I don't understand that..."

Lyara Costa

"I'm giving it two stars because the drivers are experts at handling these rickety buses on the winding gravel road.
But the buses are falling apart, so much so that we had a tense moment, thank God it didn't end in tragedy. The bus lost two of its rear wheels while going down a slope.
All the passengers had to widen the lane so the traffic could continue to flow."

Priscila Castroman

"Appalling. Passing Iturbe the bus breaks down. We were left stranded in the middle of nowhere. We were able to get to Iruya thanks to another company. The company did not refund the ticket because it excused itself by putting another bus that arrived in Iruya 3 hours later. I don't recommend it"
