What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the breathtaking panoramic views from Fort Barrington and the beauty of Deep Bay beach, calling it a rewarding hike with historical significance. However, concerns about litter and vehicle security detract from the experience for some.
"Really a nice spot to explore, with great view of the ocean and the island. If you are a bit adventurous, you can take the trail to the tip of the peninsula to view a beautiful rock just off the coast. Also walk across to the gorgeous Deep Bay for a little dip.
The huge downside is that we got several warnings about people breaking into vehicles here. We went very early in the morning and had no issue, but be very watchful."

"A little work to get up there. There's a rope someone tied to a tree for the rougher slope. I did it in sandals and my boyfriend had water shoes and we made it up alright but I would recommend tennis shoes. Gorgeous 360 degree view!!! Worth the hike. The building is not much to see. Road is a little rough close to the parking area. If you take the left fork on the trail, you end up on the beach and a great little restaurant with the freshest seafood!"

"This fort is not that easy to get to, but even if you don't make it all the way up, the view is amazing. But I would tell you to try. And once you see what I tried to get in my photos, you will understand me a little bit better. But also make your way to the beach that you see in the pictures, and you will find some good and fresh fish and jerk chicken that was an amazing find. When you find good food on a trip, that is something that will stay with you. What i like to call a free souvenir."
