What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dhermi Beach is celebrated for its stunning turquoise waters and beautiful pebbly shores, offering a free public access experience. Visitors love the breathtaking sunsets and the relaxed vibe, especially outside peak season. However, some find the beach and surrounding roads can be littered, and costs for amenities like sunbeds are higher than expected for Albania.
"I had a such a lovely evening here last night with my boyftiend before the sun set. We felt so relaxed. There were barely any people around just very relaxing, warm evening with beautiful clear water and gorgeous sunset."
Nikola Postranecka
"I came here at the end of peak season. Nice spot. It’s apparently super busy during June, July and August and the music at beach clubs don’t stop until 12am so pre warning. Mid to late September is best to have to all to yourself. Also it’s Albania. Don’t expect clean pristine Amalfi coast or French Riviera vibes. Be realistic. I loved it :)"

"Very nice beach and the water very blue and warm. You can rent beach beds if you want (which are not as cheap as you would expect giving the country’s economy) but the public part where you can put your towels is quite dirty (lots of empty cans, bottles and cigarette butts). There aren’t any good restaurants nearby if you want to eat healthy but the pizza joint there is quite good. The road to the beach from the center of the village is very steep and filled with trash on the sides. I would advise you to go by car and really early if you want to find a parking lot. People are nice though even if lots of them smoke on the beach which I personally found quite repelling. The costs of food and beverage are quite expensive compared to the capital city and you can’t pay by card in most of the places. Even if they have a card terminal they pretend it doesn’t work."

Exploring the Albanian Riviera's Coastal Gems
Beyond the main Dhermi Beach, adventurous travelers can discover hidden coves like Gjipe Beach, accessible via a hike or boat trip. This secluded spot offers a more wild and untouched natural beauty. For a taste of traditional Albanian life, a visit to Dhermi Old Town, with its stone houses and narrow alleys, is highly recommended.
When planning your trip, remember that the Riviera can get very busy during the summer months. For a more serene experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons. The natural beauty, combined with the affordability compared to other European coastal destinations, makes the Albanian Riviera a compelling choice for travelers seeking sun, sea, and stunning landscapes.
The Unique Charm of Dhermi's Beaches
The beach is a public gem, meaning there's no entrance fee, and visitors can bring their own towels and umbrellas. Along the beach, you'll find a selection of bars and snack stalls offering refreshments, though prices can be a bit higher than inland. The water is generally shallow near the shore, making it suitable for families and casual swimmers, but the pebbly seabed can make it a bit unstable for those less confident in the water.
For those seeking a more secluded experience, the nearby Gjipe Beach is a must-visit. Accessible by a hike or boat, it offers a more rugged and pristine environment, often less crowded than the main Dhermi Beach. Both beaches exemplify the stunning natural beauty of the Albanian coast, offering visitors a chance to relax, swim, and soak in the Mediterranean sun.
